Haute Couture From Humble Beginnings
The new kids on the Italian luxury design block are Dolce & Gabbana, who launched their model and retailer in Milan 1985 after a profitable run as a design Ferragamo consulting studio. By 1990, they, too, were worldwide.
Though individually distinct, gorgeous and globally recognizable, what all of those design brands have in widespread is a basic commitment to quality materials, quality building, and craftsmanship within the tradition of Italian masters. Each is also a testament to onerous work, household ownership and generational expertise. Yes, they’re costly, and characterize a significant investment of assets. Consider, however, that a handbag or tote made by one of these designers can be anticipated to last for a few years, and remain an iconic model assertion that rises above developments and fads. Goods as properly-made as these hold up for decades when cared for properly. And these are manufacturers the makers stand behind; service and care offered to their customers is unparalleled. To this I can personally attest.
